Usury is a deadly sin
Wealth is one of the great blessings of Allah, through which man tries to fulfill his worldly needs by the order of Allah, but Islamic law has made it mandatory for every person to do it only in a lawful and lawful way. Earn wealth, because on the Day of Resurrection, every person will have to answer to Allah Almighty regarding the wealth, from where he earned it, i.e. what were the resources?
And where spent?
That is, there was no omission in the rights of the servants or the rights of Allah related to property?
Despite wealth being a blessing and a necessity, the Creator of the Universe and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have repeatedly described wealth as a temptation, an instrument of deception and a mere thing of worldly adornment. This does not mean that we should not make any effort to acquire wealth and wealth, because seeking halal sustenance and raising children with halal sustenance is religion itself, but the goal is to live a worldly mortal life with the fear of Allah. Live and make life's success a priority at all times. If there is an issue, instead of staking the hereafter, ignore the temporary goals of this mortal life, and avoid doubtful matters.
These days, such a race has started for the acquisition of wealth that most people do not even consider whether the wealth is coming from halal resources or from haram resources, rather some people have now given different names to haram resources and started considering them as legitimate for themselves. Although the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered to avoid even suspicious things, therefore every Muslim should be satisfied only with lawful means, as the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not increase the body with forbidden wealth, because better than that is fire. (Tirmidhi) Also, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Where are the prayers of those who eat and drink forbidden and wear forbidden things accepted? (Muslim)
Among the major sins that are becoming common in our society, one of the most dangerous and deadly sins is usury.
Things of the same kind which are weighed or measured by a scale and in rupees etc. Dealing between two men in such a way that one of them has to give something more in return is called riba and usury, which in English is called interest. At the time when the Holy Qur'an prohibited usury, the transaction of usury was introduced among the Arabs, and at that time usury was defined as lending money to a person with a demand for a large sum of money, even if the borrower had to pay for his personal expenses. taking a loan for or for the purpose of trade, and whether it is simple interest or compound interest, i.e. one-time interest or interest on interest, e.g. Given that he returns 110 rupees, this is interest. However, if the borrower wishes to pay a little more than the original amount at the time of repayment of the loan, it is not only permissible, but it is proven by the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to do so. No case has been settled. A bank that gives extra money on the money deposited in the bank at a predetermined rate
That is also interest.
The sanctity of usury is clearly proven by the Qur'an and Hadith, Allah Ta'ala said
"Allah has made buying and selling lawful and usury forbidden." (Al-Baqarah: 275)
In the same way, Allah Ta'ala says
"Allah abolishes usury and increases charity." (Al-Baqarah: 276)
When the prohibition of usury was revealed, people were forbidden to take whatever interest was owed to others.
"Leave even the arrears of interest, if you are believers." (Surat al-Baqarah: 278)
The declaration of war by Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for those who take and give interest
Usury has been declared such a great sin in the Holy Quran that the words used by Allah for usury are not used in the Holy Quran for drinking alcohol, eating pork and fornication.
"O believers! Fear Allah and leave what remains of usury, if you are true believers. And if you do not do so, then prepare to fight Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ).” (Al-Baqarah: 278-279)
There is a declaration of war by Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) against those who take usury, and this is a strict promise that is not given for committing any other major sin, for example, committing adultery, drinking alcohol. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) said:
"Whoever is not ready to give up usury, it is the responsibility of the Caliph of Time to make him repent and if he does not stop, he will be beheaded." (Tafseer Ibn Kathir)
The disgrace and humiliation that Allah Almighty has reserved for those who take usury on the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty has said something like this in His Holy Word:
"Those who take usury will rise (in the Resurrection) like a person who has been driven mad by the touch of Satan." (Al-Baqarah: 275)
There is a divine decree for those who justify certain forms of usury
"This humiliating punishment will be because they said that selling is like usury, although Allah has made buying and selling lawful and usury has been forbidden." (Al-Baqarah: 275) )
People who do not repent from usury will go to hell
"Therefore, whoever is reminded by his Lord and refrains from (interested affairs), then whatever happened in the past belongs to him, and the matter of his (inner state) is a reference to Allah Almighty. And whoever returns and does the same thing again, such people are the people of hell, they will stay in it forever.” (Al-Baqarah: 275)
The purpose is that in these verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah Almighty has taught us to avoid the sin that kills man with strong words and said that if the usurers and lenders do not repent, then they will be punished by Allah and His Messenger. Prepare to fight (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he also said that those who take and pay usury will be humiliated and disgraced on the Day of Resurrection and will be cast into hell.
Sayings of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about usury
The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared the sanctity of usury on the occasion of Hajj Al-Wadaa
"(Today) the usury of ignorance has been abandoned, and the first usury that I abandon is the usury of our uncle Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), all of them have been abolished, (since Hazrat Abbas (Radhiyallahu anhu used to give loans to people on interest before the sanctity of usury) so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "On this day, I will abolish the interest that is owed to other people." (Sahih) Muslim, chapter of Hijjat al-Nabi (peace be upon him)
The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said
"Beware of the seven deadly sins." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! What are the seven major sins?
(Those who kill people) The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Committing polytheism, practicing magic, killing a person unjustly, taking usury, usurping the property of an orphan, (in the form of war with the infidels). Running away from the field and slandering chaste women.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has cursed all those who take and pay usury, those who write accounts of usury and those who give testimony of usury. The words of the curse of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the usurer and the usurer are present in every famous and well-known book of hadith. (Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa'i)
A loan from a bank is also usury: 99.99% of scholars of all schools of thought agree that the current practice of taking a loan from a bank and earning interest on the deposited amount is usury, which the Qur'an calls for. It is forbidden in the verses of Surah Al-Baqarah in the Holy Qur'an, for those who do not renounce it, Allah Almighty and His Messenger (ﷺ) declare war, and for those who do not repent, there is disgrace and humiliation on the Day of Resurrection, and hell is theirs. is the abode of
There have been many meetings on this subject of the important organization of contemporary scholars of the whole world, "Majum al-Fiqh al-Islami", but in every meeting it has been decided that it is forbidden. The scholars of the subcontinent also agree that it is forbidden. In several conferences of Fiqh Academy, New Delhi, it has been decided to make it haram. Egyptian scholars, who are generally considered liberal, also agree on the illogicality of taking loans from banks and charging interest on deposits under the current system. No school of thought anywhere in the world has ruled on the legitimacy of the practice of taking a loan from a bank and taking the interest amount on the deposited amount for personal use.
What shall we do in the present age?
1:- If someone says that taking a loan from a bank or interest on deposited money is permissible, avoid it by keeping the position of 99.99% of the scholars of the world in front.
2:- Keep this well in mind that the decision of the scholars in the light of the Qur'an and Hadith on the prohibition of taking a loan from the bank and the amount of interest on the money deposited in the bank is not to enmity you. Rather, what is in your favor, because usury has been declared a great sin in the Qur'an and Hadith. The words used by Allah for usury are not used in the Quran for drinking alcohol, eating pork and fornication.
3:- The Prophet (peace be upon him) whom we are proud to be an Ummah, has cursed those who take interest and givers, and has also taught us to avoid doubtful things.
4:- Avoid taking a loan from the bank, meet the worldly needs without taking a loan from the bank, be patient if there are any problems or problems.
5:- If a person is in a country where there is really no way to avoid usury, then avoid the usury system according to your means, always be concerned about getting rid of it and ask forgiveness from Allah Ta'ala.
6:- Those who have used interest money should repent to Allah Almighty at the first opportunity and resolve not to eat even a single penny of interest money in the future and donate the remaining amount of interest to someone deserving of Zakat. Give reward.
7:- If a person wants to sell old gold ornaments and buy new gold ornaments, then he should take possession of them by applying a separate price for both, exchange old gold for new gold and the difference. It is not permissible to pay to, because it is also a form of usury.
According to the world's leading economic figures, the current monetary and banking system only benefits investors, and has numerous flaws.
Some materialistic people argue for the justification of usury that the sanctity of usury mentioned in the Holy Quran is related to taking loans for personal needs, but loans can be taken on interest for the purpose of trade, likewise some materialistic people. It is said that the sanctity of interest in the Qur'an refers to interest on interest, but interest is not included in this order of the Qur'an. The first thing is that the sanctity of usury has been declared in the Qur'an without mentioning any conditions, so a clear argument from the Qur'an and Hadith is required to allocate this generality of the Qur'an, which cannot be presented until the Day of Judgment. Therefore, from the beginning of the Qur'an until today, no famous commentator has interpreted the verse regarding the prohibition of usury in this way, and at the time of the declaration of the prohibition of usury in the Qur'an, interest was taken for both personal and commercial purposes, likewise one-time interest. Or interest on interest were both common, for 1400 years, commentators, muhaddiths, scholars have written the same thing with arguments. This case is like someone saying that drinking alcohol is forbidden in the Holy Quran because in those times alcohol was made in dirty places, today it is made with cleanliness, in beautiful bottles and in beautiful hotels. , so it is not forbidden. May Allah guide such worldly people
