Kafiristan is located about two hours away from Chitral city. Kailash religion has the concept of God but no concept of any prophet or book. Happiness is everything in their religion. They say that just as someone's birth is an occasion for happiness, similarly his death is also an occasion for happiness.
So when someone dies, thousands of men and women gather - the dead body is kept in the community hall for a day. Seventy to eighty goats and eight to ten bulls are slaughtered for the guests and wine is arranged. The food prepared is purely indigenous.The last rites are celebrated. They believe that the deceased should be sent away from this world happily. The celebration includes wine, kebabs, dancing and air firing. Currency notes and cigarettes are placed in the deceased's hat. In olden times, they used to put the dead body in a coffin and keep it in the graveyard. Nowadays, it is customary to bury it. A death in Kailash costs the family an average of eighteen lakhs. While it can go as low as seven lakhs and as high as thirty-five lakhs.
Like death, marriage and birth are also surprising among them. The boy has to chase the girl away and take her to his house. The boy's parents inform the girl's parents and the village elders, who come to the boy's house and get confirmation from the girl that she was not forced to marry him, but that she ran away of her own free will. Thus, the relationship is established. After this, a feast is arranged. In which the girl's family specially participates. On the fourth day of the wedding, the girl's maternal uncle comes, to whom the boy's family gives a bull and a gun as gifts. Similarly, this series of gift exchanges between the two families continues for a long time.
Surprisingly, a married woman can also be sent away if she falls in love. If the woman has run away with her own consent, her ex-husband has no right to object. A grand feast is held when the first child is born. In which goats and bulls are slaughtered. This feast is held at the girl's house, but the boy's family has to pay the expenses. In addition, the boy's family has to give two thousand rupees each to each of the girl's relatives. If the next child after the first child is of the same sex, all this will also happen on this occasion. Even if there are only boys or only girls, this custom will continue. This can only be avoided if a child of the opposite sex is born.

In recent times, Islam is spreading rapidly among Kalash girls, regardless of marriage, which worries not only the locals but also the European NGOs working in the area. Therefore, a bank account has been opened for each Kalash person by these NGOs, into which money is deposited from abroad every month with restrictions. In return, the only demand is that they refrain from becoming Muslims and if the Kalash are disgusted with religion, they should become Christians but refrain from becoming Muslims. If a child born in these valleys lives in Kafiristan, then a European adopts him at birth and keeps sending him money every month. Why this is done is not difficult to understand.
کافرستان کے عجیب رسومات 🍁
چترال شہر سے کوئی دو گھنٹے کی مسافت پر کافرستان واقع ہے۔ کیلاش مذہب میں خدا کا تصور تو ہے مگر کسی پیغمبر یا کتاب کا کوئی تصور نہیں. ان کے مذہب میں خوشی ہی سب کچھ ہے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں جیسے کسی کی پیدائش خوشی کا موقع ہے اسی طرح اس کا مرنا بھی خوشی کا موقع ہے
چنانچہ جب کوئی مرتا ہے تو ہزاروں کی تعداد میں مرد و زن جمع ہوتے ہیں- میت کو ایک دن کے لئے کمیونٹی ہال میں رکھ دیا جاتا ہے۔ مہمانوں کے لئے ستر سے اسی بکرے اور آٹھ سے دس بیل ذبح کئے جاتے ہیں اور شراب کا انتظام کیا جاتا ہے۔ تیار ہونے والا کھانا خالص دیسی ہوتا ہےآخری رسومات کی تقریبات کا جشن منایا جاتا ہے۔ ان کا عقیده ہے کہ مرنے والے کو اس دنیا سے خوشی خوشی روانہ کیا جانا چاہیئے۔ جشن میں شراب ، کباب ، رقص اور ہوائی فائرنگ ہوتی ہے ۔مرنے والے کی ٹوپی میں کرنسی نوٹ ، سگریٹ رکهی جاتی ہے۔ پرانے وقتوں میں وہ مردے کو تابوت میں ڈال کر قبرستان میں رکھ آتے تھے۔ آج کل اسے دفنانے کا رواج ہے۔ کیلاش میں ہونے والی فوتگی خاندان کو اوسطاَ اٹھارہ لاکھ میں پڑتی ہے۔ جبکہ یہ کم سے کم سات لاکھ اور زیادہ سے زیادہ پینتیس لاکھ تک بھی چلی جاتی ہے۔
فوتگی کی طرح ان کے ہاں شادی اور پیدائش بھی حیران کن ہے۔ لڑکے کو لڑکی بھگا کر اپنے گھر لے جانی ہوتی ہے. لڑکے کے والدین لڑکی کے والدین اور گاؤں کے بڑوں کو اس کی خبر کرتے ہیں جو لڑکے کے ہاں آکر لڑکی سے تصدیق حاصل کرتے ہیں کہ اسکے ساتھ کوئی زبردستی نہیں کی گئی بلکہ وہ اپنی مرضی سے بھاگی ہے۔ یوں رشتہ ہو جاتا ہے۔ اس کے بعد دعوت کا اہتمام ہوتا ہے۔ جس میں لڑکی والے بطور خاص شرکت کرتے ہیں. شادی کے چوتھے دن لڑکی کا ماموں آتا ہے جسے لڑکے والے ایک بیل اور ایک بندوق بطور تحفہ دیتے ہیں۔ اسی طرح دونوں خاندانوں کے مابین تحائف کے تبادلوں کا یہ سلسلہ کافی دن تک چلتا ہے۔
حیران کن بات یہ ہے کہ پیار ہونے پر شادی شدہ خاتون کو بھی بھگایا جا سکتا ہے۔ اگر وہ خاتون اپنی رضامندی سے بھاگی ہو تو اس کے سابقہ شوہر کو اعتراض کا کوئی حق نہیں۔ پہلا بچہ پیدا ہونے پر زبردست قسم کی دعوت کی جاتی ہے۔ جس میں بکرے اور بیل ذبح ہوتے ہیں۔ یہ دعوت ہوتی لڑکی والوں کے ہاں ہے مگر اخراجات لڑکے والوں کو کرنے ہوتے ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ لڑکے والوں کو لڑکی کے ہر رشتےدار کو دو ہزار روپے فی کس بھی دینے ہوتے ہیں. اگر پہلے بچے کے بعد اگلا بچہ بھی اسی جنس کا ہوا تو یہ سب کچھ اس موقع پر بھی ہو گا۔ یہاں تک کہ اگر مسلسل صرف لڑکے یا صرف لڑکیاں ہوتی رہیں تو یہ رسم برقرار رہے گی۔ اس سے جان تب ہی چھوٹ سکتی ہے جب مخالف جنس کا بچہ پیدا ہو
اگر کیلاش لڑکے یا لڑکی کو کسی مسلمان سے شادی کرنا ہو تو شادی کی واحد صورت یہی ہے کہ کیلاش کو اسلام قبول کرنا ہوگا خواہ وہ لڑکا ہو یا لڑکی ۔۔۔
حالیہ عرصے میں شادی سے قطع نظر کیلاش لڑکیوں میں اسلام تیزی سے پھیل رہا ہے جس سے مقامی لوگوں کے ساتھ ساتھ وہ یورپین این جی اوز بھی پریشان ہیں جو اس علاقے میں کام کر رہے ہیں۔ چنانچہ ان این جی اوز کی جانب سے ہر کیلاش فرد کے لئے ایک بنک اکاؤنٹ کھولا گیا ہے، جس میں ہر ماہ پابندی کے ساتھ بیرون ملک سے رقم ڈالی جاتی ہے۔ جس کے عوض فقط یہی مطالبہ کیا جاتا ہے کہ مسلمان بننے سے پرہیز کیا جائے اور اگر کیلاش مذہب سے بیزار ہوں تو عیسائی بن جائیں لیکن مسلمان بنننے سے گریز کریں. ان وادیوں میں پیدا ہونے والا بچہ رہتا تو کافرستان میں ہی ہے لیکن اسے پیدائش کے ساتھ ہی کوئی یورپین گود لے لیتا ہے اور وہ اس کے لئے ہر ماہ رقم بھیجتا رہتا ہے۔ ایسا کیوں کیا جاتا ہے۔ اسے سمجھنا مشکل نہیں
