Consumption of tea and coffee

Tea and coffee are the most consumed beverages in the world. It has its own historical reasons. But the reason for the popularity of tea or coffee in the world is the caffeine found in it.

One hundred thousand tons of caffeine is consumed annually in the world. This is equivalent to the weight of 300 passenger planes. Its main sources are tea and coffee. It makes us feel alert and energetic even if we have not had enough sleep. But its disadvantage is that it increases our blood pressure and makes us anxious, but how?

Caffeine, which is found in the leaves and seeds, has two functions. It is also the defense system of the plant by which it kills some insects. Whereas in its flowers, where it is present in smaller quantities, it causes sap-sucking animals to remember them and then return to the flowers. In the human body, caffeine acts as a stimulant for our nervous system. It blocks the important sleep molecule adenosine.

Our body needs a constant supply of energy, which it breaks down ATP. Adenosine is released during this process. Neurons in the brain have clamps in the shape of the adenosine molecule to catch it. Adonisin molecules fit into them. These then start a chain of reactions that slow down the firing of neurons and slow down the brain's message-sending molecules. This is what we call falling asleep.

Caffeine is the villain in this adenosine story. Its molecular shape is similar to that of adenosine, and it replaces these molecules by blocking adenosine in these cells, but does not activate them and start the reaction that stops sleep. That is, adenosine inhibits our neurons, while caffeine inhibits adenosine. This is His way of making us agile.

Adenosine receptors in some neurons bind to another molecule, dopamine. One role of dopamine is that it increases our sense of pleasure. The adenosine molecule prevents dopamine from entering this space, but when caffeine replaces it, dopamine is replaced. This way our mood improves.

Caffeine's play with dopamine and adenosine also has long-term beneficial effects, including a reduced risk of certain diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and some types of cancer. Caffeine helps in reducing body fat. For thirty-two years in the Olympics, high caffeine blood levels meant disqualification, as high levels of caffeine were known to cause fatigue.

But caffeine doesn't just have positive effects. It increases the heart rate, which increases the risk of blood pressure and heart diseases and stomach upset. Lack of sleep and increased anxiety are also side effects, but our brain has a weapon of its own. The mind itself does not have a frozen or static structure and adjusts itself. If this happens continuously, the way it grows is that it grows new cells. In this way, you will feel sleepy despite consuming caffeine. Because of these extra contractions, his need for sleep increases with habit because the contractions are more frequent.

Because of this, if it is stopped suddenly, the body resists and adenosine causes headaches, fatigue and depression. But in a few days the excess tension will disappear and the body will adjust and feel plump without it.
