At the very edge of the world, there is a mountain range called the Patagonian Mountains.
These mountains are very strange and amazing, there are sounds of melting glaciers here, there is less population here than in the deserts, but there is a valley here that the locals call "el valley silente".
They say it means... a silent gorge. The origin of this name was an incident that happened in 1973 when three people were wandering around in this gorge...
When they passed a bend, they suddenly felt that everywhere... as if an unnatural silence had fallen. But after passing the bend and wandering around the valley for some time, when they returned, they found that a whole day had passed in the world behind them. It seemed that they had passed through a place where they had been freed from the prison of time in this world.

Then there is another similar incident that happened to two English women. This is from 1901 when two girls went to visit the famous Palace of Versailles in France.
And she says that she was walking in the back of the palace when suddenly, just like in the mountains, it felt like for a moment everything had become still and silence had fallen everywhere.
They thought that perhaps she had entered a restricted part of the palace where there was no noise from the other tourists.
So, to go back, they took a turn and saw that in front of them were some people dressed in 18th century clothes and a woman standing under a tree making a painting and surprisingly, she was the last queen of France.

It's as it seems, or maybe it's the same thing again. It seemed as if they had both suddenly arrived in time two centuries ago.
But then a man stopped them with a hand signal... and told them to go back, and when they returned, everything had returned to normal.
I have only told you two stories, but history is full of such incidents when people experienced as if the veil of time had suddenly lifted before them and they had glimpsed other eras. You know, this phenomenon is called time slip, and such experiences have been reported so often that science is now beginning to explain them seriously.

کہتے ہیں یعنی ۔۔۔ ایک خاموشی گھاٹی ۔ اس نام کے پیچھے درأصل 1973ء میں ہوا ایک واقعہ تھا کہ جب تین لوگ اس گھاٹی میں گھومتے پھرتے ۔۔۔
کسی موڑ سے گزرے تو اچانک انہیں یوں محسوس ہوا کہ ہر طرف ۔۔۔ جیسے ایک غیر فطری خاموشی چھا گئی ہو ۔ لیکن موڑ سے گزر جانے اور کچھ دیر وادی میں گھومنے کے بعد جب وہ واپس آئے تو پتہ چلا کہ پیچھے تو دنیا میں پورا ایک دن گزر چکا ہے ۔ یوں لگتا تھا کہ وہ کسی ایسی جگہ سے گزرے ہیں کہ جہاں وہ اس دنیا کے وقت کی قید سے آزاد ہو گئے تھے ۔
بعد میں ایک بار پھر سے کچھ لوگوں نے کوشش کی کہ شاید یہ تجربہ دوبارہ ہو جائے لیکن وہ تو جیسے حادثاتی طور پر ہونے والا ایک

تھا کہ جو غیر متوقع طور پر ان لوگوں کے ساتھ ہو گیا تھا ۔
پھر ایسا ہی ایک اور واقعہ ہے کہ جو دو انگریز خواتین کے ساتھ ہوا تھا ۔ یہ 1901ء کی بات ہے کہ جب فرانس کے مشہور محل ورسائے میں دو لڑکیاں وزٹ کرنے گئیں ۔
اور وہ بتاتی ہیں کہ وہ محل کے پچھلے حصے میں چہل قدمی کر رہی تھیں کہ اچانک سے بالکل پہاڑوں والے واقعے کی طرح یوں لگا کہ ایک لمحے کے لیے جیسے سب کچھ ساکن سا ہو گیا ہے اور ہر طرف خاموشی چھا گئی ہے ۔
انہوں نے سوچا کہ شاید وہ محل کے کسی ممنوعہ حصے میں داخل ہو گئی ہیں کہ جہاں باقی سیاحوں کا شور نہیں ہے ۔
چنانچہ واپس جانے کے لیے انہوں نے ایک موڑ لیا اور دیکھا کہ سامنے اٹھارہویں صدی کا لباس پہنے کچھ لوگ کھڑے ہیں اور کسی درخت کے نیچے ایک عورت کھڑی کوئی پینٹنگ بنا رہی ہے اور حیرت انگیز طور پر وہ فرانس کی آخری ملکہ

جیسی لگ رہی ہے ہے یا شاید پھر وہی ہے ۔ یوں لگ رہا تھا کہ کہ جیسے وہ دونوں اچانک سے دو صدیوں پہلے کے وقت میں آ گئی ہوں ۔
مگر پھر کسی آدمی نے انہیں ہاتھ کے اشارے سے روک کر ۔۔۔ واپس جانے کے لیے کہا اور جب وہ واپس آئیں تو سب کچھ ایک بار پھر سے نارمل ہو چکا تھا ۔
میں نے آپ کو صرف دو واقعات سنائے ہیں لیکن تاریخ ۔۔۔ ایسے واقعات سے بھری پڑی کہ جب لوگوں نے تجربہ کیا کہ جیسے اچانک ان کے سامنے پڑا وقت کا پردہ اٹھ گیا ہو اور انہوں نے دوسرے زمانوں کی ایک جھلک دیکھ لی ہو ۔ آپ کو پتہ ہے کہ یہ فینامینا ٹائم سلِپ کہلاتا ہے اور اس قسم کے تجربات اتنے زیادہ رپورٹ ہوئے ہیں کہ اب سائنس سنجیدگی کے ساتھ ان کی تشریح بیان کرنے لگی ہے ۔

سائنسدانوں نے ان طوطوں کو باروئنگ پیرٹس کا نام دیا ہے ہے کیونکہ یہ طوطے سرنگ کھود کر اپنا گھونسلہ بناتے ہیں، یہ سرنگ تین میٹر تک گہری ہوتی ہے۔ارجنٹینا کے جنوبی ریگستان پیٹاگونیا کے پہاڑ پر طوطوں کی سب سے بڑی کالونی دریافت ہوئی ہے۔غیر ملکی خبر رساں ادارے کی رپورٹ کے مطابق ال کونڈو نامی پہاڑی پر سبز پروں اور آنکھوں کے گرد سفید حلقوں والے طوطوں کے 37 ہزار گھونسلے پائے جاتے ہیں۔سائنسدانوں نے ان طوطوں کو باروئنگ پیرٹس کا نام دیا ہے ہے کیونکہ یہ طوطے سرنگ کھود کر اپنا گھونسلہ بناتے ہیں، یہ سرنگ تین میٹر تک گہری ہوتی ہے۔رپورٹ کے مطابق طوطے جب اپنے پنکھ پھیلا کر اڑتے ہیں تو نیلا آسمان ان سے ڈھک جاتا ہے اور دلفریب منظر پیش کرتا ہے۔تشویش کی بات یہ ہے کہ باروئنگ پیرٹس کی نسل میں مسلسل کمی آ رہی ہے، سائنسدانوں کے مطابق خوراک میں کمی کے باعث ان طوطوں کو میلوں سفر کرنا پڑتا ہے جو ان کی نسل میں کمی کی بڑی وجہ بن رہی ہے۔اس کے علاوہ سیاحتی مقامات میں اضافہ اور انسانی عمل دخل بھی ان طوطوں کی کالونی کے لیے بڑا خطرہ ہے۔
